In its earliest days, the Trace was a hunters path in the lands of the Natchez, Chickasaw, and Choctaw Indians. Later, it became a trail from Natchez to Nashville used by early settlers moving into the territory and Ohio River farmers returning home after floating crops and furs down the Mississippi River to Natchez and New Orleans.
Today, this former path is the historic Natchez Trace Parkway, and just a stones throw from its boundary is the Old Trace Coffee Company.
